Campus Police, FBI train for active shooter scenario

Dec 14, 2012 by

FBI Supervisory Special Agent Brent Chambers (left) and TJC Campus Police Chief Randy Melton (right, in uniform) speak with local media following an “active shooter” training exercise inside the Ornelas Residential Complex.

The four-hour training session consisted of realistic scenarios involving an officer assuming the role of a gunman and the use of simulated ammunition.

Campus Police have been assisted previously by FBI agents with presentations on active shooter scenarios; however, this was the first time for FBI officers to lead TJC Campus Police in an active training exercise on campus.
