TJC’s annual employee campaign kicked off at fall convocation in August 2015. Over the next six weeks, 352 employees pledged $70,529 in support of TJC and the United Way of Smith County.

Overall participation among full-time TJC employees was 52.07 percent. According to the 2014 CASE Survey of Community College Foundations, the average participation rate among full-time employees in annual faculty/staff campaigns is 37 percent.

“I am continually amazed at the generosity of our faculty and staff,” said Shelby Gould, TJC director of advancement operations and annual giving, who leads the campaign efforts.

“They genuinely care about TJC students and that shows in the results of their financial giving.”

The Promises to Keep Scholarship has become one of the most popular avenues for support. All gifts and pledges to the Promises Scholarship are immediately awarded the following spring semester. This year, 31 students received $1,000 each to assist with tuition, fees and books during spring 2016. That amount provides a significant source of funding for a TJC student.
